Now that was an expensive round....

A bottle of Chateau Yquem, that golden, honey like wine that comes from Sauternes, has sold at auction for US$90,000. Originally bottled in 1787, the wine had been inspected and recorked in 1980 and 1991.

Putting the age of the bottle into context.....when the grapes were picked for the wine, James Watt was just developing the steam engine, George III was King of England, George Washington was president of the United States – and Marie Antoinette's head was still on her shoulders.
